Intro

The Global Automation Engineer will need to possess a deep understanding and proficiency in integrating a wide spectrum of technologies, including process measurement and control sensors, electronic equipment, panels, electric motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, computer systems, industrial communication networks, wireless applications, system integration, robotics, and more. Close collaboration with project teams and key users is vital to ensuring a holistic approach in designing and operating assets and installations. The role involves investigating and defining automation solution requirements and providing support for their implementation, all in alignment with business needs and established project management methodologies. The ultimate goal is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of production processes, reduce costs, improve sustainability, and maximize the profitability of Nutreco projects.

The successful candidate will become part of a dedicated team of Automation and OT specialists, all reporting to the Global OT Manager. As an integral member of this collaborative and cross-functional unit, you will contribute to Nutreco's overarching objectives. Within this role, you'll have the opportunity to engage with and support multiple projects simultaneously, thereby expanding your expertise in this field.

What you'll do

• Apply automation and electrical engineering expertise to enhance safe and reliable operations.
• Assist the Global OT Manager in identifying automation development opportunities and sharing best practices.
• Take charge of automation and control system design, specification, programming, simulation, and testing.
• Develop automation standards and guidelines aligned with Nutreco stakeholders for capital projects.
• Create replicable automation templates and solutions for use in diverse locations and projects.
• Offer troubleshooting support and perform root cause analyses for production issues, proposing preventative measures.
• Support new project design, installation, and commissioning, including international travel (approximately 25% of the time), while evaluating and validating design alternatives to optimize outcomes. Ensure project requirements align with business objectives and budgets, meeting the needs of internal stakeholders.

Experience and education

• At least a bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in implementing automation projects following ISA-88 and ISA-95 standards.
• Proficiency in automatic process control for both continuous and batch processes.
• Expertise in the installation and wiring of low-voltage electrical equipment.
• Skilled in programming, installation, and maintenance of programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Competence in installing and configuring human machine interfaces (HMI) and SCADA systems, including the development of automation and electrical drawings.
